VALS
I somewhat agree with my results because certain parts of it are true about me and other parts are false. I got Striver and Experiencer for my end result. Striver starts out good by saying "Strivers are trendy and fun loving" which is definitely true for me. I love to have fun and i love to be into the latest fashion, according to what i think it is anyway. But later Strivers fails me by saying i need the opinion of others. I do not look for the opinion of others at all, i do what i want and say what i want. But i do love to shop.....so they got me there! As for Experiencer....i think this one is more related to my personality. I do love new possibilites and have always found an outlet in sports such as basketball. Experiencers still look for "cool" stuff but do not need the opinion of others so i believe this defines me better than Striver. I think this excercise was pretty accurate based on the questions it asked. I liked how on the website their was a side panel where you could read more about what each result really means. I think this could be used to help make advertisements because you know what kind of audience you are addressing.

A time when the medium has been the message is definitely through music. Usually, the first time i hear a song i don't listen to the words as much i'm just focused on how cool the beats or different musical instruments sound together. Also, with movies sometimes a dramatic affect is to have no words but just have creepy intense music (scary movies). Recently i watched the special features of The Hunger Games DVD and i found out that they focused a lot on the music in their movie. In fact their are many instances where there is just music playing and no dialouge, music is such a powerful medium because it can be understood everywhere across the spectrum. Happy music, sad music, scary music, it's easy to understand.
Well my cell phone is definitely an extension of my body. Since i live on campus i don't see my family or friends at home quite as much so a quick phone call or text is definitely the easiest thing. Also, twitter is definitely my addiction i love to connect with friends and see what they are up to. Skype is also cool because i can actually see faces! I just recently skyped with my parents and a friend the only thing about skype is sometimes the video is slow or messes up which is annoying.
I interpret the "Global Village" to mean any part of the Internet that you partake in. For me, that is so many things, i am addicted. I love Pinteresting that is my most recent website i have joined, it is so fun to look at! I also have Facebook, Twitter, and i E-mail but not often.
I believe i am a technology deteminist. I think that technology has changed things so much in this society, i mean even for me it is an addiction for teenagers and a distraction. It is also a great resource too!

Comm 203: Creative Commons
I think that it is hard not to steal someone else's copyrighted work because it is so easily accessed on the Internet. With websites like Google, YouTube, Pinterest, Tumblr, Facebook, and Twitter it's hard to tell what you are stumbling upon sometimes and also you might not even know what you are taking is copyrighted. Stealing music with Limewire (which recently went under) and Frostwire is popular because who wants to pay for a Itunes song when they can steal copyrighted music for free. The Internet is an amazing tool but sometimes it complicates things by creating trouble especially things like plagarism which has become a serious issue, just look at our syllabi. Sometimes you might not even know what you are typing into your research paper is copyrighted or....you might know but your taking the chance but always cite your sources it is the best way to go!
